This week I gave my presentation for my main story in our class. It was a much more challenging experience than I anticipated. Talking in front of a group was slightly different than I thought it would be. It seems to me that writing a story and organizing it in that manner was much easier than discussing it in a presentation form.
Overall, the process of this story was a great experience. I stepped out of my comfort zone and did a longer story on a topic other than sports. I have written sports for the previous two years, and to be able to move away from that comfort was something that made me feel much more comfortable about my journalism skills.

- I am a Journalism/Mass Communications major at Kansas State University. Following graduation I plan on entering the field of sports journalism. I spent a year as a sports writer at the K-State Collegian, the daily student newspaper at Kansas State University. Currently I am a sports writer at the Manhattan Mercury in Manhattan, Kan. I served as the beat writer for the Kansas State Volleyball team during the 2009 season, the co-beat writer for the K-State women's basketball team and will serve as the co-beat writer for the K-State baseball team. Covering Big 12 athletics has been an incredible experience and I hope to continue to be involved with the conference in years to come.
